In recent weeks, political ads have encouraged people to opt for hybrid or electric vehicles. While the government wishes to see Premier Philippe Couillard increase the number of electric cars from 7,000 to 100,000 in 2020, Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre wants to install 1,000 charging points in the city.

Government Drive Electric Program
With the purchase of a new all-electric vehicle or rechargeable hybrid, consumers are being offered a discount of $4,000 to $8,000. Currently, the owners of roughly 7,300 vehicles are taking advantage of this incentive program. The 2020 target is 100,000 vehicles.
You’ll find all of the details of the Drive Electric Program at: http://vehiculeselectriques.gouv.qc.ca/. The site also offers a list of vehicles that are eligible for the Program and the conditions of the incentive program for charging.
Rebate Program for charging stations
Have you purchased or rented a fully electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle? You can take advantage of financial support to purchase and install a 240-volt charging at your residence. Financial assistance is available for the lesser of 50% of eligible expenses, or an amount of $1,000.
Companies aren’t left behind. They can also receive refunds for auto purchases and the installation of 240-volt charging stations. Thereafter, the employer must offer their employees free charging during the three years following the installation of the terminal.
The green license plate: exclusive benefits
When registering your electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicle, you’ll be granted a green license plate with many advantages. In fact, since October 9, vehicles with a green plate can legally drive in designated bus and taxi lanes. Given the heavy traffic in major cities, such allowances can save you time and money.
In addition, to thank you for your environmental awareness, you can enjoy a free ferry ride from Quebec, as well as free access to two toll bridges in Greater Montreal, starting on January 1, 2016.
