Automotive research firm and car search engine iSeeCars is back with its annual ranking of the most reliable and durable vehicles as determined by the models that are the most likely to reach 320,000 kilometres (200,000 miles).
For its latest study, it looked at nearly 15 million vehicle transactions made in 2021.
“With new and used car prices at record highs, many consumers are likely keeping their vehicles on the road for an extended period of time or are looking to buy a reliable vehicle to get the most return on their investment,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer.
Once again, Toyota dominates the ranking, securing eight of the top 15 spots (the percentage of units that reach 320,000 km is listed next to each model):
The industry average is just 1.2 percent according to iSeeCars.
On the other hand, don’t under-estimate the environmental impact of changing vehicles after just a few tens of thousands of kilometres, leading automakers to build even more of them.
For another perspective on vehicle reliability and durability, don’t miss J.D. Power’s list of the most dependable makes and models in 2022.
